Lisa Meri is a guitarist, composer, and singer-songwriter who hails from New York City. She was born into a musical family and exposed to all kinds of music (pop, jazz, latin) at a young age by her dad, a working drummer. Her grandfather gave her a violin at age 9 and after a few years she switched to guitar so she could write. She played her first gig at 15 and never looked back.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Lisa moved back to NYC and played in various clubs around Chelsea and Greenwich Village. She also did studio session work and fell in love with the studio. A few years later, she returned to Boston and began recording and producing original music with David Porter (Aerosmith, Nona Hendryx). Lisa and David co-produced several CD’s including “Time Will Tell” and “Full Circle”. Lisa toured regionally and in Europe garnering airplay and press in support of these recordings.
Preferring the studio to live performance, she shifted her focus to writing and producing music for visual media. Her music has been placed in a variety of commercial, television, and film productions including Episode 302 of Dawson’s Creek: The Complete Third Season DVD. This episode is currently streaming on Amazon and Hulu.
In 2011, Lisa took a break from music so she could pursue another creative passion: writing narrative feature length scripts for the screen. She emerged from her writing cocoon with two feature length comedies- “4 Helens” (which she co-wrote with Aussie friend Christian Clare) and “You Should Be So Lucky” (which she wrote solo). She’s actively promoting both of these stories and has several more in development.
But the greatest creative pull for Lisa is her music, and in 2017 she started writing new material and put together a fantastic production team. She’s back in the studio working with Andy Sepe (a rising new talent) and Shaun Lichtenstein (JAX, American Idol, Diviners “Savannah”). Lisa and Andy co-wrote and co-produced “Back To You”, a new single which was released in July of 2018. The track was mixed and mastered by Shaun at Red 13 Studios. Lisa plans on releasing a follow-up EP (as well as other tracks) in 2019.
